How’s Married Life? – June 27, 2011

This is my 50th blog post here and as such, I thought I would celebrate with something a little different.

If you’ve been recently married, I would bet money that you’ve been asked the question, “How’s married life?”  If you haven’t been married before, I can make that same bet and safely say that you’ve asked the question to someone else. I have so I can’t possibly be alone. In most cases, the answer I always receive has the same theme — “the same”. As a closet romantic, I have questioned this answer and have concluded that people are hiding something. Perhaps their true feelings for each other. When I think of “the same”, I think boring, stagnant, unexciting, among many other adjectives. I have photographed weddings in Halifax, other parts of Nova Scotia and the Maritimes for several years now and I think it’s time to go back and revisit some of my brides and grooms and ask them some very mind-bending questions. Ok, maybe not mind-bending, but maybe something to get their romantical juices flowing. I mean, they met, they fell in love, then they got married. Why did they get married? I’m going to dig deep into their lives since they’ve been married and see how they’ve been and get answers to questions that everyone wants to know, and probably some we don’t.

Make sure you check back from time to time to see their answers. If there are any questions you would love to have a married person’s opinion on, make sure you leave them in the comments below and I’ll do my best to incorporate them into my questions.

I will update Facebook every time there’s a new couple posted on the blog. Make sure you like us there to get the blog update notifications!

Because blog posts are boring without pictures, here’s a few reasons why I married the gal I did.

She has a heart of gold. She would do anything for anyone. This includes purchasing lobsters and releasing them back into the wild to give them a second chance.

Release the Lobsters

She’s young at heart. I hope she’ll always take the time to act silly and jump on hotel room beds.

Jump. Jump.

We can both laugh at the things that might upset other people. Don’t even ask what this was about. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

Spilly-pants

…and she’s hot.

  1. Dear Dave and Krystle, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you guys can’t answer ‘the same’ cause you didn’t really date before getting married . . . I’m just sayin’! :) Tony and I are almost eight years in and the reasons for actually tying the knot seem less and less logical when just being together rocks. At least once every day I think to myself “holy geez Amy, you are one lucky bitch and life sure is awesome isn’t it?” So if I ever do get married, and it stays ‘the same’, I’ll count myself lucky as all get out!

    Love yas both!

  2. I love you and can’t think of anyone else I’d want to spend my life with. I’ll even love you when you have old balls.
